Powering a more sustainable world through electroluminescence

Less power, less heat, less material. Why printed light belongs in a greener future.

A warm sunrise over mountains with rays of light

The greenest energy is the energy you never use. EL light starts with an advantage: it draws very little current to make a whole surface glow.

Four ways EL helps

  • Low power: a fraction of a milliamp per square inch keeps a panel glowing, so batteries last longer and systems stay small.
  • Almost no heat: less wasted energy, and no heat sinks or cooling to build in.
  • Less material: a panel thinner than paper replaces fixtures, housings and diffusers.
  • Mercury-free: unlike fluorescent tubes, EL panels contain no mercury.

Printed, not assembled

Screen printing is an additive process: we put material only where the light needs to be. Combined with long service lives, that means fewer replacements and less waste over a product’s life.

Light that sips power, stays cool and lives on any surface. That is our idea of a brighter, more sustainable world.

Think you know your cold light? Take the quick quiz.

1. What does EL light come from?

2. How hot does an EL panel get?

3. Which of these do EL panels contain?

4. How are EL panels made?

Answer all four to see your score.
